It seems to be a universal rule or something.
Those mouth watering recipes get passed down, and taught – and if you’re brave – adapted ever so slightly.
Maybe it’s time to make these recipes entirely your own, and add your own fun twist to those classic recipes grandma swore by. With a little imagination, you can seriously enhance them (and using premium meats won’t hurt!)..

Double Parmesiana Chicken
Apple Cider Glazed Chops
Nothing is more decadent and versatile than our tender chicken breasts. We’ve put a slightly healthier, and more delicious spin on this Italian classic; Chicken Parmigiana, but with a Parmesan crust instead of bread!
First, pound those breasts! Get a crispy mixture prepared by mixing lots of Parmesan, some Italian herbs, garlic powder, and flour together.
Next, dip the breasts in plain flour and then into a bowl of whipped eggs. Lastly, dip them into that yummy parm mixture you prepared. Onto the hot oiled skillet they go!
Once your breasts are browned, place them in a baking dish slathered in fresh tomato sauce and mozzarella. Bake at 425° for 14 minutes, with the last minute on a high broil to get that cheese sizzling and crispy! Top with lots of fresh basil!
Nothing is more universally loved by kids than some good old apples. Our grandparents may have made their pork chops with a side of apple sauce but why not try something a little more sophisticated?
First, pat down a couple of our boneless pork loins and season lightly with salt and pepper. In a skillet with hot oil, brown them for a few minutes on each side. At this point, put the pork aside.
In that same hot skillet, pour in 1 ½ cups of fresh apple cider with 2 tablespoons of brown sugar. When this becomes a thick syrupy glaze, add a spoonful of whole grain mustard, salt, and pepper.
Pour this incredibly complementary sauce over your chops and watch everyone feast in wonder.
Curdy Shepherd’s Pie
Cheese makes everything better. Especially melty Canadian curds. Specifically, ooey gooey cheese bubbling amongst our juicy, rich grass-fed lean ground beef…now that’s a dynamic duo.
Begin by browning some onions in a hot skillet. Throw in your pound of ground beef until it starts to brown also. Add parsley, thyme, salt, and pepper for 7 minutes, stirring occasionally.
Add a tablespoon of Worcestershire and 2 cloves of garlic, followed by two tablespoons of flour and two of tomato paste. Stir until well incorporated and slowly add a cup of beef broth and 1 ½ cups of frozen veggies. When the mixture has thickened up, mix in the delicious cheese curds!
Now you’re going to make some delicious creamy mashed potatoes with plenty of cheese, garlic, salt, and pepper for taste. Additional enriching ingredients include dashes of cream, sour cream, or cream cheese.
In a baking pan, pack the meat mixture in flat, and layer the potato mixture on top. Bake uncovered for half hour at 400° for a most delicious reveal! The cheesy potatoes should be golden and the inside juicy and gooey!
Traditions don’t have to be static; they can grow and strengthen, like the family lineages they come from. Your ancestors would have wanted this.
